Santorini has always been high on my bucket list. How could anyone resist visiting one of the most beautiful islands in the world! Thousands of years ago at the Aegean Sea, an explosion happened and created one of the largest caldera in the world. It offers an amazingly beautiful scenery with the most awe-inspiring views on earth. I wanted to stay at a hotel in Santorini where I could enjoy the breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. I came across Mystique Santorini on the Marriott website and knew I had to stay here. The 5-stars hotel looked picturesque.
Booking Mystique Santorini
The free night redemption at Mystique cost 60,000 Marriott points per night, which seemed high, but I decided to splurge. I used my Marriott points to book a 2 nights stay in the Vibrant Suite, which would have cost around $1,880 for our stay with cash. Keep in mind that children 13 years or younger are not allowed to stay at Mystique as there are many stairs and deemed as not safe for the children. This hotel is a very popular place for honeymooners and romantic escapes.
Our flight landed in Santorini at around 2:30 P.M. and our driver from Welcome Pickups was there waiting for us. This was my first time booking airport transfer with them. The driver was sociable and gave us his recommendations on places to eat and see in Santorini. Our ride from the airport to Mystique hotel took approximately 25 minute. The Mystique hotel is located in Oia town and on the opposite end of the Oia Castle. There are other villas and hotels in the same area as well. There are many stairs to walk to the front office to check-in. However, it is expected since the hotel was built into a cliff. Thankfully, the hotel had bellmen on street level to help us carrying our bags down the stairs to the front office.
All 2 Senses Suite
After checking in, the front desk staff walked us to our room. We were surprised with a complimentary upgrade to an “All 2 Senses Suite” (assigned to room #31 and #32). It features two spacious bedrooms and a private outdoor Jacuzzi to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Caldera. There are a total of 41 suites and villas at Mystique and each room looks slightly different due to the hotel being built into the side of a cliff. The “All 2 Senses Suite” is located below the Captain’s Lounge restaurant. The outdoor Jacuzzi with a large panoramic private terrace was a highlight of the suite. It had four chairs as well as two sun beds.
Room #32
Room #31
Between the two rooms in the “All 2 Senses Suite,” I prefer Room #31 more than Room #32 as it’s more spacious and has a bigger bathroom. On the other hand, my mom thought the smaller room is better as it’s more cozy. There is a connecting door, which allows easy access between the rooms.
Mystique Santorini Dining
Being a Marriott platinum member, I opted in to receive complimentary breakfast during my stay instead of 1,000 bonus points. For breakfast, we ate at the Captain’s Lounge every morning since it was the closest restaurant from our suite. We mostly had the restaurant to ourselves since the majority of the guests were eating at the main restaurant, Charisma, which is located next to the infinity pool. We usually ate breakfast around 9 A.M.
Dining at the Captain’s Lounge was great due to the exceptional customer service, the amazing view and the delicious food. Breakfast was served daily from 8 A.M. until 11 A.M. and it was a la carte. We ordered what we wanted and as much as we wanted for breakfast.
We also had dinner at the ASEA Restaurant & Lounge, which is located at the top of the hotel. It is the hotel’s sushi restaurant. We had dinner late so it was too dark to take any pictures. Overall, the sushi was not that great compare to excellent sushi that we have back at home.
Pools
The hotel has two pools. One is located next to the Charisma restaurant and the other one is located next to Captain’s Lounge.
Secret Wine Cave
We had a chance to tour the 150-years old Secret Wine Cave at the Charisma restaurant. It used to be a well in the old days. In the evening, guests can experience wine tasting at the Secret Wine Cave to learn and taste different Greek wines. We did not have time to do wine tasting at the Secret Wine Cave, but we heard great things about it from other guests. You can also book private dinner here.
I thought the location of Mystique hotel was perfect. It was a 5-minute walk from the main pedestrian street through Oia, but far enough from the touristy area that we can enjoy the quietness of the hotel.
