Tejon Ranch Outlets – California’s Best Rest Stop

Do you like taking road trips? We recently made a weekend road trip from Orange County to Fresno. On the way there, we stopped by Castaic Lake, Pyramid Lake, and Fort Tejon State Historic Park. These destinations are not far from the Tejon Ranch Outlets, commonly called the “Oasis on I-5,” which is the best rest stop in California.

Living in California makes road trips easy due to its diverse landscape with epic views of mountains, valleys, forests, deserts, and coastlines. California has the greatest variety of regional landscapes in all of North America. You can drive to the highest point (Mount Whitney) in the contiguous 48 states and to the lowest point (Badwater Basin) in North America within 3 hours or go surfing at the beach and ride an ATV in the desert all in the same day. California is home to nine of the country’s 59 national parks as well as over 250 state parks. There is hardly a dull moment living in California as there are so many places to explore.

We stopped at the Tejon Ranch Outlets to recharge our car and refuel ourselves. The Oasis on I-5 is approximately 2 hours from Orange County and 30 minutes from Bakersfield. This is California’s premier travel stop with everything we need including the Outlets at Tejon featuring more than 40 stores with impressive savings of up to 65% off, there’s something for every shopper. The stop also has 30+ restaurants ranging from sit-down dining to fast-casual. In addition, there are 100+ fuel pumps (Mobil, Shell, Blue Beacon, Petro, and TA), and dozens of EV chargers, making it the second-largest Tesla superchargers hub in the world behind Shanghai, China. We love having the car fully charged in less than 30 minutes while we shop and eat. Additionally, there are two grassy park areas and tons of pet-friendly stores plus four hotels on its premises.

While our car was being charged, we had lunch at Black Bear Diner, which has cute bear theme dining that started back in 1995 in the small town of Mount Shasta, California. Black Bear Diner is known for being a community-focused restaurant with their “Bears Give Back” initiative, in which the owners support philanthropic efforts through sponsorships and fundraising events. They serve all-day breakfast and you can find classics like omelets, waffles, pancakes, and more. Their popular dishes include GRIZZ!, BIGFOOT Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, and Cinnamon Roll French Toast. They even have a fun kiddie menu and crayons for kids to draw.

After lunch, we engaged in retail therapy. The outlets have so many great deals from my favorite stores such as Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors, Banana Republic Factory Store, H&M, Express, and Nike Factory Store to name a few! The therapy ended with a few pairs of Nike shoes, jewelry, and handbags at Kate Spade and clothes at Columbia Sportswear, Banana Republic Factory Store, and Gap Outlet.

At the Outlets at Tejon, customers can get a Travel Tejon Passport to earn stamps to get an entry ticket for a chance to win one of the monthlyΒ prizes. They have different prizes every month such as trips to Mammoth Mountains for a 2-night stay at The Village Lodge and two standard ski equipment rentals, Napa for a 2-night stay at The Archer Hotel along with 2 vouchers for wine tasting, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, Yosemite and so much more.

The prize for last month (August 2022) was a vacation for 2-night stay at The Hotel del Coronado and a voucher dinner for 2 (approximately retail value at $1400). The Hotel del Coronado is famous for being the location for many movies and it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. I would have loved to win that prize to stay at The Hotel del Coronado! There is no minimum dollar amount to enter. For a chance to win, Just bring receipts from shopping, dining,Β refueling, or hotel stays to Guest Services at Suite 170 and they’ll stamp your passport. Before we continued our journey, we stopped by the convenience store to pick up some snacks and drinks at Starbucks. Having a convenient rest stop is important for any road trip and the Oasis on I-5 has become our favorite stop to recharge our road trip. It provides all our essential needs with tons of options for fuel, food, stores, hotels, and open areas for pets. Have you stopped by the Oasis on I-5 before?

I am a huge fan of road trips as I believe road trips are good for the mind and soul. They offer freedom and the flexibility to take as little or as long in any one place. In addition, I can be more spontaneous and stop at extra places that I did not plan for along the way. Road trips allow us to take the beaten path to discover hidden gems. Where are you headed on your next road trip?
