Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa -Escape to luxury island

Imagine escape to an island where you feel like you have the entire island to yourself. At the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, you can walk around the island and feel like you are the only one on it. There is no civilization in sight. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and disconnect from daily life. Situated on a private island 35 miles north of the Equator in one of the world’s largest and deepest natural atolls, the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa offers a luxury hideaway. It has 50 villas with 36 on land and 14 over the ocean.

My husband and I redeemed our four award nights from Chase Hyatt credit card to stay here (this offer is no longer available). The Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a category 6 hotel and you can stay here for 25,000 points per night. It took approximately 34 hours to get to the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa took a from Los Angeles, California. If it was not for the airport lounges, I don’t think we could have survived the long journey.

Once landed in Male, Maldives, we took a 60 minutes flight to Kooddoo Airport, followed by a 30-minute speedboat ride. The domestic plane tickets were covered by the resort so we did not have to worry about the transfer. They served the buffet lunch at the lounge while waiting for the domestic flight. The flight itself was on a small turboprop aircraft operated by the Maldivian.

Park Hyatt Arrival Jetty

During the long journey, I began to question myself whether this Maldives trip was worth it since we were both tired from the long flights. β€œIt better be worth it,” I thought to myself. As we got closer to our resort, I started feeling positive about this trip. We were stunned by the white sand beach against the clear turquoise water of the blue Indian Ocean. The beautiful island gave us the feeling of seclusion. When we arrived at the jetty, we were greeted by the General Manager along with other senior executives and our host. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. It felt very personal. We felt like celebrities just stepping of the plane!

Check-in area

Our host walked us to the check-in area, which looked like an upside down boat. Every villa has a host, who takes care of the guests and keeps guests informed about the activities taking place. The check-in process was short and simple. After a few minutes, the host walked us to our room.

Deluxe Park Pool Villa

We received complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe Park Pool Villa (Room #2). It features a luxury infinity pool, outdoor cabana with table and chair, outdoor garden bathroom with bathtub and rain shower, and private beach access with two sun loungers. It offers a panoramic ocean views.

Park Water Villa

We stayed here for 2 nights before we paid the up charge and moved to the Park Water Villas (Room #43). If you are going to the Maldives, you must stay in an over water villa at least once. The Park Water Villa offers spectacular panoramic ocean views from the private deck outside and individual access to the coral-filled waters below.

Things to do

Snorkeling

The coral reef, which surrounds the entire private island, is one of the best spots in the Maldives. We snorkeled directly from our park water villa and saw varieties of coral and tropical fishes. The most impressive moment was when we saw giant clams that were about 3 feet wide. Our snorkeling experience was incredible.

Back of the House Tour

The β€œBack of the House” complimentary tour runs on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The tour shows how the island handles energy, waste, water purification, laundry, repairs, and the fire-control procedures, bottling plant, rooms and common areas where the administration offices and staff members live. This is a must-take tour to learn the heart of the island. It was fascinating as I had never been behind the scenes of a hotel before.

Traditional Maldivian Fishing

We took a traditional dhoni (a traditional Maldivian boat) boat with a few fishermen to learn how to fish with a hand line. It was an interesting and fun way to catch fish as we did not use any fishing pole. We ended up catching the most fishes in our group (6 red snappers and a barracuda). When we got back to the island, the culinary team prepared our catch to our liking while we were getting freshen up.

Weekly’s Manager Special

Every Saturdays, the resort offers a manager’s cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. This reception is on the beach, near the bar. It includes complimentary cocktails, wine, appetizers, Maldivian singing and dancing. This is your chance to mingle with other guests and management. We had a wonderful time getting to know other guests and watching the beautiful sunset.

Kayaking

You can rent a kayak up to an hour each day for free. We were too busy snorkeling that we did not have time to kayak.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit the Maldives is between December and April during the dry season. The dry season has little rain and lower humidity. The Maldives are hot and sunny all year round with average temperatures of 80’s degrees (Fahrenheit).

Where to eat

Food is expensive due to transportation costs. For example, lunch for two cost between $80 – $100 while dinner cost between $150 – 200. The resort has two main excellent restaurants, The Dining Room and The Island Grill. We usually had breakfast buffet, a light lunch and dinner at one of the two restaurants on the island.

Tips before you go

  • Hadahaa island time zone GMT +6 hours.
  • 220V AC electricity.

The Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a great place to visit despite it is difficult to get to. We definitely had the best snorkeling experience ever. Would we visit it again? Of course! It’s totally worth it.
