Go Back in Time with Simonian Farms

Simonian Farms
Outside the Produce Market

We stopped by the Simonian Farms after we completed the Fresno Blossom Trail. The blossoms were beautiful. I recommend visiting the Fresno Blossom Trail if you have not been there before. You can read about our trip here. The Simonian Farms, family owned and operated, has been around since 1901. The family started the business as a fruit stand and now sells farm-direct fruits and vegetables as well as specialty foods and local wines. It has one of the largest selections of dried fruit and nuts in the valley. Today, the farm harvests more than 180 produces and seasonal fruits such as apricots, peaches, apples, cherries, nectarines, etc.

Next to the produce market is the “Simonian Farms Old Town,” which opened in 2012. It is a western themed town and opens only on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 P.M – 5:30 P.M (please call to confirm hours before you go). The 5,000 sqft barn includes wine tasting saloon, school house, barber shop, post office, church, gas station, diner and general store. Family can enjoy activities such as animated 4 guns shooting gallery and gold mining or sipping on old fashioned soda and enjoy Fresno State University ice cream.

Outside of the “Old Town” features old artifacts such as tractors, farm equipment and automobiles. In addition, there is a wood monument from the Japanese internment camp (Poston, Arizona) that is dedicated to the Japanese Ameicans who helped mentor Mr. Simonian as a young man while they were in camp together.
